A radar that keeps detecting where a camera gives up. Through mud, heavy rain and the dark it holds a steady reading out to 40 metres, with colour-coded and audible blind-spot alerts.
Model R1

A camera is only as good as what it can see, and on a muddy site or in heavy rain at night that is not much. Radar does not care. This 77GHz unit reads range and motion off the radio return, so it keeps a stable output when a lens is caked or the light is gone, which is exactly when a large vehicle is most likely to back into something it cannot see.
It detects from 0.2 out to 40 metres with a 0.2-metre resolution and a wide -60 to +60 degree spread, picks moving targets out of the scene, and splits coverage into up to three zones. Alerts come on a colour-coded LCD, green through yellow to red as a target closes, with an audible warning so the driver gets it without looking down.

Mud on a site, spray on a motorway, a dark yard: the conditions that blind a camera leave the radar unaffected. It outputs a steady reading through all of them, which is why a radar layer earns its place alongside cameras on the vehicles that work the worst environments.

The display steps from green to yellow to red as a target moves into the closer zones, paired with an audible alert, so the driver judges proximity without taking eyes off the mirrors. With three configurable zones the warning can be tuned to the vehicle and the job rather than a one-size threshold.

The radar head is sealed to IP67 and the control box to IP65, rated to a 5.9G shock spec and a -40 to +85°C range, on under 5 watts at full load. It is made for construction, mining and heavy transport, where the equipment takes a beating and still has to work.
