Where an all-in-one puts a screen on the dash, this is the black box behind it: a compact unit that takes eight AHD cameras, records them all at 1080P, and feeds a monitor over its AV and VGA outputs. The point of it is the recording, kept long and kept admissible, for the fleets that have to produce video when something goes wrong.
H.264 and H.265 compression stretch a 2TB drive across days rather than hours, and an encrypted file system with watermarking keeps the footage from being quietly altered, which is what makes it hold up as evidence. A 256GB SD card runs alongside the drive, and recording can trigger on speed, a turn, the brake or reverse so the events that matter are flagged in the timeline.
Eight 1080P AHD inputs cover a long or high-value vehicle, and H.265 compression roughly halves the storage each channel needs against older codecs. With a 2TB drive that turns into days of continuous footage on board, looping over the oldest as it fills.
An encrypted file system and watermark technology mean a clip can be shown to have not been edited, which is the difference between a recording and an admissible one. For accident investigation and dispute resolution, that integrity is the whole value of the box.
4G, WiFi and GPS or GLONASS are available so the recorder reports to a platform for live view and tracking, and RS232, RS485, alarm I/O, intercom and a G-sensor let it tie into the rest of the vehicle. It ships RoHS, FCC and CE rated, with OEM and ODM customisation on a short turnaround.
